4 pkgs jello, red, green, orange and yellow colors (3 ounce size)
1 pint sour cream
2 envelopes knox gelatin
Grease dish 13x9
1. 1 pkg green jello dissolved in 1 cup boiling water and add 1/2 cup cold water. Pour into dish and put in fridge to set.
2. 2 cups milk, bring to boil. Add 1 cup sugar - mix until sugar is dissolved. Dissolve the 2 envelopes of knox gelatin in 1/2 cup cold water, add to milk and sugar mixture.
3. Add 2 cups sour cream and 2 tsp vanilla to above milk mixture with electric mixer, just until blended. When sour cream mixture is fairly cool, spread about 1 1/2 cups sour cream mixture on green layer. Put in fridge to set. When it is sticky to the touch it is ready for next jello layer.
4. Same as step 1 except use orange jello. When jello is cool, pour onto white layer and set in fridge until firm.
5. Add 1 1/2 cups white mixture and refrigerate until firm. Next add yellow jello then last of white layer and last of all red layer.
Note: It takes each layer about 1/2 hour to set.
It helps if you put the bowl of white mixture in a pan of warm water to keep it from setting between layers.
This recipe came from Bev Long who brought this to our annual New Year's Eve parties when Laura was a little girl.
